Tune in: ABC’s “The Great American Baking Show: Holiday Edition” premieres its fourth season on Thursday at 9 EST/PST with back-to-back episodes (two each week for three weeks). Pastry chef Sherry Yard joins Paul Hollywood as a judge and Spice Girl Emma Bunton and Anthony “Spice” Adams host. The show is based on the British series and showcases bakers from around the country competing in holiday-themed challenges.

FILM

Go to: “Mary Queen of Scots,” out Friday, follows the story of Mary Stuart (Saoirse Ronan) and her attempt to overthrow her cousin, Queen Elizabeth I (Margot Robbie). The film is based on the book “Queen of Scots: The True Life of Mary Stuart” by John Guy.

View: "Mission: Impossible – Fallout,” starring Tom Cruise, is out on Tuesday. USA TODAY’s Brian Truitt gave the film ★★★ out of four, writing this installment “gives the franchise more depth than the usual nonstop action of similar fare. Ethan Hunt (Cruise) and his crew “have to wrestle with what is the greater good and whether a friend’s safety is worth potential nuclear annihilation.”

Listen: Van Morrison’s 40th studio album, “The Prophet Speaks,” is out on Friday. The 14-track album features both original songs and covers of classics from such artists as Sam Cooke and John Lee Hooker. The title track was released in October.
