SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - The smartphone industry has been looking for a breakthrough to revive a market immersed in a break of innovation and a drop in sales.
A potential catalyst comes with the introduction of phones with flexible screens that can be folded in half without breaking. That feat could make devices more versatile for work and pleasure, by increasing screen space without making phones too big.
On Wednesday, Samsung took a look at a folding screen device that will launch next year. It is expected to compete against several other flexible screen phones.
But it is not clear whether the flexibility will have a massive appeal, especially when flexible devices are expected to cost more than $ 1,000.
