The head of the Polish ruling party puts a better face on the results of the elections
The leader of Poland's populist ruling party has hailed his participation in the local choiceIt's like a "total victory" despite the party's failure to win mayoral races in any of Poland's major cities.
In an apparent measure to save face, Jaroslaw Kaczynski says that "our victory is not subject to the slightest doubt" and considers that the results are a good sign for the Law and Justice party in the next elections.
He spoke on Tuesday after the vote that ended on Sunday in which the conservative ruling party won a majority of the seats in the regional assemblies, but had a poor performance in mayoral elections, did not win big cities and only a handful of the smallest
Looking ahead, Poles will elect representatives for the European Parliament in May and for the national parliament in the fall, and then elect a president in 2020.
