Smoking cigarettes in the USA UU It reaches low levels, but 1 in 5 people continues to use tobacco
Smoking rates in the United States are the lowest of all, but one in five people continue to use tobacco products, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Smoking rates have decreased by 67 percent since 1965, when the US government began tracking smoking rates. It is estimated that 14 percent of American adults (34 million people) were smokers in 2017, a decrease of 15.5 percent in 2016. For younger adults, ages 18 to 24, rates were even lower, going down from 13 percent in 2016 to 10 percent in 2017

"This new consumption of cigarettes among adults in the US is a tremendous public. Health and demonstrates the importance of proven and continuous strategies to reduce smoking, "CDC Director Robert Redfield said in a press release." Despite this progress, work remains to reduce the harmful effects for the health of tobacco consumption. "
While cigarettes are the most common form of tobacco used, the press release noted that other forms of tobacco are also widely used, including electronic cigarettes, cigars, smokeless tobacco, water pipes and hookahs. In total, about 47 million people in the United States consume tobacco products.
Certain groups of people were more likely to consume tobacco products than others, according to the CDC. These groups included people with incomes below $ 35,000, and those who had a GED, did not have insurance, were insured by Medicaid or received public assistance.
Some ethnic groups were also identified as more likely to use, including non-Hispanic-American Indians / Hispanics, multiracial adults, whites, or blacks.
Higher rates of tobacco use were also observed in adults who identified themselves as lesbian, gay or bisexual. Being divorced, separated, widowed, single, never married or not living with a partner was also associated with higher use.

"For more than half a century, smoking cigarettes has been the leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States. The elimination of smoking in the United States would eliminate, over time, about one third of all cancer deaths, "said Dr. Norman E. Sharpless, NCI Director, in the press release," Disparities The persistent prevalence of smoking in adults described in this report emphasizes the need for additional research to accelerate reductions in tobacco use among all Americans. Los nuevos documentos presentados el lunes ante los reguladores en Polonia, el Reino Unido e Irlanda afirman que la forma en que se manejan los datos personales durante el proceso de hacer coincidir los anuncios con los espacios publicitarios no cumple con los requisitos de la Unión Europea.
