Manchester rivals get big wins in the Champions League
It was Manchester United's night in the Champions League when United surprised Juventus with final goals and City defeated Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday.
Cristiano Ronaldo's brilliant goal, a volley from a long pass that fell on his right shoulder, was set to give Juventus the victory against their former club with minutes to play in Turin.
Man United returned the shot with a free kick by Juan Mata and a goal from a center that bounced off the net in front of two defenders on the line for a 2-1 victory. Man City's 6-0 victory over the visit to Shakhtar will be most remembered for a comic penalty awarded by the fall of Raheem Sterling to kick the turf in a failed attempt to shoot.
Their victories very well prepared a Manchester Derby match in the Premier League on Sunday.
Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Roma also won, but no team joined Barcelona, which advanced to the knockout stage on Tuesday after four rounds of group games.

Careful city
Man City's difficult week off the field is not affecting his progress.
The club has been severely criticized in the "Football Leaks" reports of the German magazine Der Spiegel. The city has been represented in internal club documents and emails as ruthless and supposedly prepared to fool UEFA to avoid a possible Champions League ban on overspending.

Classical group
The Group E table has a feeling of the 70s with Bayern Munich and Ajax looking good to move forward. Each of the teams won a hat trick of European Cup titles from 1971 to 1976.
Bayern have a two-point lead over Ajax, which drew 1-1 at Benfica, and both could advance before they meet in Amsterdam on December 12.
Ajax then travels to Athens to play AEK, which is one of two teams with zero points along with Group D Lokomotiv Moscow.
