Hundreds of Google engineers and other workers are expected to leave work on Thursday morning to protest the indulgent treatment of the internet company by executives accused of sexual misconduct.

The Google protest, announced "Walkout for Real Change", takes place a week after a story by the New York Times detailed the allegations of sexual misconduct about the creator of his Android software, Andy Rubin. Rubin mocked the Times article as inaccurate and denied the allegations in a tweet.

A congresswoman from Silicon Valley tweeted her support for Google's footprint using the "metoo" hashtag that has become a battle cry for women fighting against sexual misconduct.
