Did I see a UFO? It depends on how you define it
When it comes to the issue of UFOs, there is a question that makes me more than any other. Namely, "Have you ever seen a UFO?" Well, in the terms that most people think of UFOs, my answer to that question can only be a firm "No". With that, I want to say that I've never seen a nuts and bolts-type of object flying in the sky that baffled me. But, I had an experience that some might suggest (and, in fact, to have suggested) should make me change my position. The story goes back more than a decade. Together with the late Rob Riggs (the author of several books, including In the big bush), and several other friends and colleagues, on June 11, 2005 I went to Big Thicket of Texas. It is a large area of forests that has a couple of strange legends: (a) the many and varied reports of Bigfoot that have emerged in the area; and (b) the "Lights of ghosts" residents of the Big Thicket, as they are known.
If, late at night, you've stayed on Big Thicket's Bragg Road (or Ghost Road and Ghost Light Road, as it's known locally), you'll know that their very Car headlights easy to confuse For something much stranger. But that does not take away the fact that there are many more registered cases that stand the test of time. My own nocturnal encounter in the area in 2005 was one of them. Here is how I described the brief topic in my 2007 book, Memories of a monster hunter:
"We were heading back to the vehicles for a snack and something to eat when, when we entered a clearing in the trees, a bright light about the size of a basketball hovered above us at a height of approximately 35 feet. He moved from right to left and sailed slowly, however, on purpose in his journey. The phantom light was present for only 10 seconds, but I managed to quickly capture the strange visitor to the camera before it went out, never to return. In fact, everything happened so fast that I almost convinced myself that it had only been a dream or the result of an illusion. But it was not any. The photograph had clearly registered the phantom light. And what is more important, several members of the group could also be seen in the image, as well as the road and the surrounding trees. In other words, I had secured an image framed almost perfectly from one of the mysterious ghost lights. "
And that was it, a brief view of ... well ... something. So, to return to the topic of this article (did I see a UFO?), It all depends to a large extent on how you, me and everyone interested in the topic interprets the term "UFO". What I saw in the Great The scrub in the summer of 2005 was not identified. However, I can not say I was flying. It was more like slowly, gently floating. And I did not see any evidence that it was an "object." At least, not in the way ufologists use the word. Rather, it simply seemed to be a light. I suppose, something similar to the equally controversial question of the ball lightning.
In view of all of the above, some might say that I actually saw a UFO. Others might even go so far as to claim that I saw an alien ship (but, if it were, it would have been a hell of a child!). I? All I can say for sure is that I saw a ball of light of quite significant size, and for a very short time, that it was there briefly and then suddenly disappeared. In a very Considerable stretch, I suppose you could claim to have seen a UFO. But, I would be fooling myself. All I can say for sure is that I saw a strange light.
