Alabama extends the lead in the top, Michigan up to the No. 4, UCF of the top 10 in Amway Coaches Poll
USA TODAY Paul 'Myerberg sports in the biggest bands, falls and surprises of week 10 in the top 25 of the Amway coaches survey.
USA Today SportsThe Amway Coaches Survey now has a well-defined top five. While that does not guarantee that the playoff committee rankings will look the same, it does provide a clear path for the contenders.
Alabama, of course, remains solidly in the No. 1 position after eliminating LSU in Baton Rouge. Crimson Tide received all but one of the 64 votes No. 1. Clemson, second place, retains the last script of first place after the demolition of Louisville. Notre Dame maintained its unblemished record by avoiding a late rally at Northwestern and remained stable in third place. Michigan and Georgia, with impressive performances against Penn State and Kentucky, respectively, complete the top five.
Supply: West Virginia. Victory on the Mountaineers route in Texas with a courageous two-point conversion earned them a two-point win at No. 8, just one survey point behind the No. 7 Ohio State.
Stock below: LSU. The Tigers cling to a top-10 that slides from the No. 4, but a path to the playoff is now almost impossible.
Supply: Syracuse The Orange, 41-24 winners at Wake Forest, jump 11 places to No. 13 and reach their highest ranking in football since 2001.
