For the Latin American Astronomical Community
Today, December 24, 2013, we make the official public launch of the "ASTRONOMICAL CALENDAR 2014".The brand-new astronomical calendar is the result of a long process that was born as a project 4 years ago and where more and more people and new ideas have been added for its realization.
For 2014, the "Astrophotographic Contest" was held, where all Latin photographers were invited to participate by sending their astrophotographs, which were finally selected by a strict international jury.
The astronomical calendar is an initiative of the Center for Astronomical Observations of Venezuela COAS, through its director Rómulo Liporaci. Also in this version, the Chilean Amateur Astronomical Community CAACH and facebook groups Latin American Astrophotography Y Astrophotographers Associated with the Chilean Astronomical Community, both in the disclosure and also in the organization of the event.

The purpose of this contest is to select a group of winning astrophotographs, which will be part of the next 2014 astronomical calendar, which will be published and distributed free of charge on the COAS blog and on CAACH websites, the main objective of this contest to make known some of the best work done by Latin American astrophotographers during 2013.
The photographs selected as winners will be a total of 12, assigning one for each month of the year, as well as 3 outstanding images will be chosen, which will be published in the introduction, glossary and the general fund of the calendar.
Photographers, amateurs of astronomy or astrophotographers wishing to compete must be natural persons from the following countries: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua , Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Uruguay and Venezuela.
The selection of the winning images will be made by an international jury composed of 5 people who will evaluate the technique used, the quality and difficulty to obtain them, among other aspects. The preliminary results will be announced on Monday, November 25, 2013.
Before sending the images it is essential to read carefully the rules of the contest as well as all data on requirements, dates, techniques, selection, etc.

with a single astronomical image, which must be strictly of its authorship, original and not previously published in any page, blog, social network or astronomical group.
The content of the images submitted to the contest must be completely astronomical, being able to use any astrophotography technique for its realization (with telescope or camera on tripod), processed or not.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The winners of this contest will NOT lose their respective rights to their work, however, presenting their photographs implies their Total compliance and no objection to have their images published in the 2014 Astronomical Calendar, where they will also mention their respective full names and countries of origin in a special section of said calendar, making them a final certificate of participation.
