Harbir Parmar, 24, of Queens, was charged with kidnapping and electronic fraud in the US District Court. UU., The Department of Justice announced in a criminal complaint unsealed Tuesday.
Parmar was working for Uber around 11:30 p.m. on February 21, when he allegedly picked up a client in Manhattan, who requested a trip to White Plains, approximately 30 miles north of the city.

According to reports, the woman got into Parmar's vehicle and fell asleep. During this time, Parmar allegedly changed the woman's fate to Boston, Massachusetts and drove in that direction before stopping on one side of the road, prosecutors said.
When the woman woke up, Parmar was supposedly in the backseat with her, "with her hand under her shirt touching the top of her chest". The woman told investigators that she asked to be taken to White Plains or a police station, but Parmar refused, and instead left her by Interstate 95 in Branford, Connecticut, a city more than 80 miles away. of Manhattan.
Parmar was accused of kidnapping for the alleged incident.
"As it was said, Harbir Parmar was hired to transport a woman from Manhattan to her home in White Plains," said US attorney Geoffrey Berman. "Instead, Parmar kidnapped, terrorized and assaulted the woman before leaving her on the side of an interstate highway, no one, man or woman, should fear such an attack when they simply hire a car service."
Assistant FBI official William Sweeney Jr. called Parmar's alleged actions "a scandalous choice, which decided to illegally take advantage of his passenger in a vulnerable moment for his own selfish motives."
Parmar's access to the application was revoked "immediately," Uber told Fox News, adding that the company is cooperating with the police. Uber said the alleged incident was "something that no person should go through." The customer was charged more than $ 1,000 after the test, but Uber said he was reimbursed in full "in a few days."
In addition, prosecutors accused Parmar of electronic fraud, since allegedly reported "false information" about the destinations of customers at least 11 times. Allegedly, he also falsely claimed that clients, including the woman accused of kidnapping, had vomited in his car on at least three occasions, which resulted in "more than $ 3,600 in undue charges" for Uber's clients.
Parmar told investigators that "he knew" that the woman did not vomit in her vehicle, according to the Department of Justice.
The FBI believes that Parmar may have had similar encounters with clients, and urges those with information to contact the Westchester residents agency at 914-925-3888.
