The West Lothian Council creates a 'UFO Trail' in the place of the famous close encounter

• In November 1979, Bob Taylor was wounded and traumatized after encountering a UFO at Dechmont Woods, outside Livingston, West Lothian, Scotland (just west of Edinburgh). Now the meeting will be officially recognized by the West Lothian Council with a "UFO trail" in those forests, with marker poles and a screen in the forest to point the way for visitors to see where the incident occurred.

• On that day in 1979, Taylor, a forestry worker, was walking through the woods with his dog when he found a large dome-shaped ship floating in a clearing. Suddenly, two smaller spheres with spines protruding from them came out and grabbed him by the legs, dragging him towards the ship. Taylor remembers having smelled a pungent smell and a whistle before fainting and woke up twenty minutes later, crawling back to his truck that mysteriously did not start.

• Taylor managed to walk a mile back to his house. They tore at his pants and brushed his chin and thighs. Seeing his disheveled state, his wife called the police and a doctor came out to check him. The forensic evidence on Taylor's clothing showed that it was likely that they had been torn off by a strong pull upward, like a mechanical device. Initially, the police treated the incident as an assault, but after visiting the scene they discovered two "ladder" slits in the ground and forty small circular holes that followed the path of objects like mines.

• Tom Conn, Executive Councilor for the Environment, said: "The meeting with Dechmont Woods is the most famous alleged UFO incident in Scotland, and it has appeared in several books and television programs." Dechmont Woods is the only officially recognized UFO site in Scotland, and the only UFO incident in the United Kingdom that resulted in a criminal investigation. He made headlines all over the world.

• Mr. Taylor, who was highly respected in the local community, never strayed from his story until his death in 2007, aged 88.

The scene of a close encounter with a UFO is scheduled to attract visitors from around the world after being officially recognized by a council.

The West Lothian Council created a "UFO trail" in forests where a forestry worker claimed that he was attacked by a ship from outer space almost 40 years ago.

It is still the only incident of this kind in the United Kingdom that led to a criminal investigation and made headlines around the world.

Bob Taylor said he was left wounded and traumatized after the close encounter at Dechmont Law Woods in Livingston in November 1979.

He claimed that he was walking through the woods with his dog when he came across a large dome-shaped ship that floated in a clearing. He said that two smaller spheres with protruding tips came out and grabbed him by the legs before dragging him towards the larger object.

He recalled having smelled a pungent smell and a whistle before fainting and woke up 20 minutes later, crawling back to his truck that mysteriously would not begin. He managed to walk a mile back to his house. Seeing his disheveled state, his wife called the police and a doctor came out to check him. They tore at his pants and brushed his chin and thighs. Initially, the police treated the incident as an assault, but after visiting the scene, they discovered two "stairway" slits in the ground and 40 small circular holes that followed the path of mine-like objects.

The forensic evidence on his clothing showed that it was likely that they had been torn off by a strong pull upward, like a mechanical device.

Several theories have been presented to explain the strange encounter, from an epileptic attack to the planet Venus.
