The new Toyota pickup makes pizza
Toyota built a truck with businesses in the front and a pizza party in the back.
The Tundra has been converted to run on electricity provided by a hydrogen fuel cell and equipped with a robotic kitchen on the bed that was designed in collaboration with Pizza Hut, which shares Toyota's new home, Plano, Texas.
Using two mechanical arms, the kitchen can grab a pizza prepared from a refrigerator, place it in a conveyor belt oven, remove it from the other side when it is ready, cut it, box it and give it to someone standing next to the truck.
The entire process takes less than 7 minutes, which means that it could be completed during a typical delivery run. It could be the operative word.
The truck is only being used as a promotional vehicle on the display of the Special Equipment Markets Association (SEMA) in Las Vegas, but it can offer a glimpse into the real future.
In January, Toyota and Pizza Hut announced that they are working together to develop autonomous mobile stores, and one that could make the pizza itself duplicate itself in that idea.
