The George Soros march on Washington

About 200 protesters march through the lawn of the US Capitol to the foot of the south wing. Inside, the United States Senate is closing the debate, hours before the Saturday afternoon vote to confirm Judge Brett Kavanaugh. Members of the crowd climb the steps, display professionally printed banners, stand up defiantly and pump their fists into the air.

"Whose house is it?", They scream.

"Our house!", They respond.

At the time of voting, they have moved across the street to the Supreme Court building. After receiving the news of the vote, again the steps are hurried. Two women climb the statues that flank the steps: "Contemplation of justice" and "Authority of the law", to get more stabs.

On the steps, Bob Bland, co-founder of the Women's March, silently sends a sign of approval to another leader, and then boasts of saying, "We take the Supreme Court." On Friday, the March of the Woman had sent a photo of Sen Susan Collins, who cast the deciding vote for Judge Kavanaugh, with "Apape of rape" written on her image.

In a series of tweets and rally comments, President Trump described the crowd as "an angry left mob" of "professional protesters who are given expensive posters" and "paid by [George] Soros and others. " Mr. Trump's detractors accused him of participating in conspiracy theories, and even anti-Semitism against Mr. Soros, a multi-million dollar donor to liberal causes. However, he has a point. Many Americans genuinely oppose Mr. Trump and Judge Kavanaugh. I am a liberal feminist whose views on abortion and same-sex marriage are aligned with those of the Democratic Party. However, although most of the protesters are not paid for their efforts, protests at the Capitol on Saturday, and those that have included legislators lurking inside and outside their offices, are organized by groups of which Mr. Soros is an important sponsor.

I started to follow the money for theresistance"When he was born, hours after Election Day 2016. I have organized my findings in a spreadsheet I've made it public. At least 50 of the largest organizations that participated as "partners" on January 21, 2017, the March of the women received grants from Open Society Foundations of Mr. Soros or similar funds in the "House of Soros"As his philanthropic empire was once called internally, the number of partners backed by Soros has risen to at least 80. At least 20 of the largest groups that led Saturday's protests against Kavanaugh have been Open Society beneficiaries.

On Saturday I also studied the fine print of the posters as protesters waved them defiantly at the Capitol and the upper court. They came from a family list of Democratic interest groups that have received millions from Mr. Soros: the American Civil Liberties Union, the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, Planned Parenthood, NARAL Pro-Choice America, the Center for Popular Democracy , Campaign of rights and in and in. MoveOn.org, a lobby and Democratic organization founded with money from Soros, sent his army of supporters of regular missives who took them to a Google form to request train tickets and places to stay.

Under a ginkgo tree in the east garden of the capitol, the field marshals of the Center for Popular Democracy put the demonstrators in a "training" on Saturday morning. "Are you ready to be arrested?" She asks. "Yes!" Shouts the crowd, although a woman asks in a low voice: "What for?"

"If not," the field marshal orders, "line up for the visitors gallery so that an experienced protester can enter and scream." An organizer delivers tickets to the Senate visitor gallery for the express purpose of violating the law. They did, the procedures were repeatedly interrupted by the screams of the gallery.

The agitators even have help with their handmade posters. Across the street from the Supreme Court, a woman uses the supplies provided by UltraViolet Action to write, in Spanish: "No more rapists in power."

Back in the Capitol garden, the people of Megaphone Strategies, a public relations firm founded by former Obama adviser Van Jones, manage requests for interviews from USA Today and other media outlets. The women lieutenants of March exchange T-shirts for "Legal support sheets" completed with information in case of arrest.

Suddenly, everyone stands up to walk in unison to the steps of the Capitol. When they arrive, the few Capitol police officers on the scene observe them in silence. The demonstrators go up the stairs, although they do not "assault" them, as the leaders have claimed. There are no barricades, no phalanx of armed police.

Rethink Media created a "social media strategy sheet" in August for protesters against Kavanaugh. One point of conversation: "Kavanaugh was selected by groups of dark money and their billionaire sponsors." Rethink Media is a grantee of Soros, and Saturday's protests and illegal interruptions were part of a well-orchestrated and organized network that reserves buses, hotel rooms. and churches for such turmoil.

MoveOn.org wrote a guide, "How to Bird Dog" in the spring of 2017, in preparation for town hall meetings during a recess of Congress. During the past year, I called the Sunday night phone calls from MoveOn.org, where they plan operations and tell their "rioters" how to corner legislators. I still receive alerts for your planning sessions. The last ones have been in #stopKavanaugh.

MoveOn.org announced its call the night after Judge Kavanaugh's confirmation presented Ana Maria Archila, the sexually assault victim born in Colombia who cornered Sen. Jeff Flake in a Senate elevator last month while a comedian yelled "Look at me!" He is co-executive director of the Center for Popular Democracy. His salary was $ 156,333, with a bonus of $ 21,378, in a recent form from the Internal Revenue Service 990.

What I have gathered is an open secret, but that journalists tend to avoid. Many (including me) sympathize with the liberal causes of the Open Society champions. Some have been paid by Open Society Fellows or fellows. And many are discouraged by conservative anti-sorcery rhetoric, which sometimes becomes tricky.

Mr. Soros, like the Koch brothers, finances the causes that matter to him. There is nothing wrong with that, but democracy is better served if we follow the money of the right and the left and find solutions where they are more likely to lie: in the middle.
