One of the first notables. The UFO encounters in Italy in the early 1950s were those of Carlo Russi., that at 3 am on the 25thth July of 1952, in San Pietro a Vico, went to the Serchio river to fish. Suddenly, a strange "glow" caught his attention and, slowing down slightly, he headed in that direction. When he reached the edge of the water, he could clearly see a black disk-shaped object that was a short distance from the surface of the water.

Suddenly, in a porthole in one of the turrets connected to the ship, a human face appeared. He seemed to stretch an arm towards him, causing him to be frightened and jump over the crest of the bank to get safe. When he fell to the ground, he could see a "green ray" passing over him. Then, the object disappeared "at a frightening speed".

He was about three feet tall "in a transparent suit," which seemed to glow a blue color. The creature began to utter strange words that, at first, did not understand. Then, suddenly, he realized that the creature spoke in Latin, with which he was very familiar.
Although the "conversation" broke down, the two managed to communicate. According to the creature, they were from Earth and their technology, and their craft was "driven by enormously gigantic natural forces." Although the creature declared its country of origin, Dattilo refused to name it. The creature turned and left after several minutes, re-entering the ship through the dome at the bottom. Then he got up, leaving the same way he had descended.
Massive sightings and physical evidence
We examined briefly before the UFO sighting of 1954 over Florence, in front of a football stadium (the Stadio Artemio Franchi) no less.
