The Baltimore Ravens have finished their longest tour of the season with an absolutely dominant performance.
Try 11 bags.
And now they're heading home for four of their next five games.
The Ravens racked up the franchise bags when they shut the Tennessee Titans 21-0 on Sunday in the rain. Za'Darious Smith had three sacks and Patrick Onwuasor had two for the Ravens (4-2), who had six sacks for halftime. They finished a sack of the NFL record for a game shared by five teams.
Dean Pees and the Titans simply could not stop their former team as the Ravens beat Tennessee 361-106 and punished only once a defense led by their former defensive coordinator. Pees came out of a short retirement to join first-year head coach Mike Vrabel.
Joe Flacco threw for 238 yards and a touchdown for Baltimore. Alex Collins scored in 13 and 2-yard touchdown runs.
The Titans (3-3) lost their second straight game and were eliminated at home for the first time since moving to Nissan Stadium in 1999. Tennessee did not score a touchdown in eight straight quarters. The Ravens could not have looked much better when they gave Tennessee their first shutout since November 28, 2010.
Marcus Mariota tried to play with and without the partial glove that covered his ring and the pink fingers in his throwing hand. It did not help, since Mariota was the highest fired in his four-year NFL career and the most amount allowed by the Titans since they lost seven in a loss in Houston on November 1, 2015. Coach Ken Whisenhunt was fired two days after.
The Titans forced a rotation with safety All-Pro Kevin Byard getting his first interception this season. Tennessee did nothing with the ball at the end of the first half.
Baltimore ran almost smoothly by winning the coin toss. The Ravens converted 12 of 17 third chances, without counting another penalty of Titans. They also kept the ball for more than 37 minutes.
Flacco drove Baltimore 94 yards on 17 plays, consuming more than nine minutes of the first quarter before hitting Michael Crabtree on a 4-yard touchdown. Collins limited his next run with a 13-yard run and a 14-0 lead early in the second quarter. After halftime, Collins finished a 78-yard series that consumed 7:20 of the third quarter.
Injuries
Ravens left guard Alex Lewis was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with a neck injury after being injured in the first minute of the fourth quarter. Lewis had been blocking a Gus Edwards race when he slowly pulled away from the pile and fell. The coaches tied him to a board and took him out of the field.
Titans linebacker Derrick Morgan hurt his shoulder and did not return. Left guard Quinton Spain hurt his right shoulder with 6:51 in the third quarter and did not return.
UNTIL NEXT TIME
Ravens: I finally return home to New Orleans
Titans: The first game of the franchise in London as a road team against the Chargers.
