In the dry west of Madagascar, the Bemaraha National Park is best known for its Tsingys, sharp and strange limestone formations that can rise up to 40 meters and form a unique landscape with deep crevices, towers and sculptures.

The Tsingy de Bemaraha are the tallest of their kind in Madagascar

The Tsingy de Bemaraha have been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO because ancient tombs were found in numerous caves. Unique in this area is the vertical and horizontal erosion that creates rock formations that look like floating rocks.

Visitors move on bridges, stairs and an extensive network of hiking trails. Strong shoes and long pants are recommended because of the sharp limestone. Numerous rare plants, such as the vine, pachypodia or euphorbia also grow on the limestone peaks.
