The company filed a trademark application for the word on Monday, suggesting that a Tesla-branded tequila could be on the way. The shape is visible in the United States Patent and Trademark Office site.
Tesla's "intent to use" statement indicates that he is not using the word now but plans at some time in the future, CNBC reported.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk also tweeted a link to the report. "Teslaquila is coming soon ..." he wrote on Friday.

The 47-year-old executive hastened to offer his millions of Twitter followers a model of the "Teslaquila" logo, too.

Tesla did not respond immediately to the request for comments from Fox News on Sunday afternoon.
It's not the first time that Musk talks about a Tesla tequila brand: he tweeted that Tesla "has completely ruined himself" in an April Fool's Day post.
