Same sex couple carry the same baby, call experience & # 039; priceless & # 039;
It is believed that a couple from North Texas made medical history as the first couple to give birth to a baby they both had.
Ashleigh and Bliss Coulter of Mountain Springs are now happy mothers of a healthy 5-month-old baby named Stetson, all thanks to a procedure called Inferior Reciprocal In Vitro Fertilization or Reciprocal Endless FIV.
Bliss and Ashleigh met six years ago and were married in June 2015. Even before marriage, they had already talked about having children.
During their first year of marriage, their illusions became a serious investigation.
"I was very interested in having children, but Bliss was a bit doubtful," Ashleigh told ABC News.
"I wanted a child that was biologically mine, but I did not want to take it," Bliss explained.

Stetson Coulter is the first person carried by both mothers during pregnancy.
Ashleigh described that, generally, with same-sex couples, "one of them usually gives birth to the child and uses the sperm donor."
"The other mother has to adopt the child," he added.
But both Bliss and Ashleigh wanted a way to be a part of bringing their child into the world.
A friend suggested that the couple see a news clip about Dr. Kathy Doody, a fertility specialist at the C.A.R.E Fertility Clinic in Bedford, and some of her previous work.
Ashleigh and Bliss scheduled a consultation with Doody in 2016 and learned of the possibility that both of them carried the baby using IVF without any reciprocal effort.
The couple was hoping to find a solution to their problem, but Ashleigh said "I really did not think it was possible until we heard it in Dr. Kathy's mouth."

Ashleigh Coulter holds her son Stetson, the first person carried by both mothers during pregnancy. After the embryo was formed in Bliss, it was transplanted to Ashleigh, who took Stetson for the remainder of the pregnancy.
Both were delighted because Doody "sounded very optimistic about it and very positive that it could be done".
Doody explained that IVF without effort in itself is not worth mentioning, but this would be "the first time that both mothers physically carried the baby".
IVF without effort refers to a form of IVF by which eggs and sperm are introduced into a device called the INVOcell capsule. They are then placed in a woman's vagina to simulate conditions in an incubator.
Reciprocal IVF implies that eggs and sperm are incubated in a laboratory in an incubator. An incubator provides a temperate environment and keeps gases and substances, such as toxins, away from embryos.
Since with Effortless IVF, the INVOcell capsule should be placed in a woman's body, Bliss was able to fertilize her eggs and form embryos inside her instead of using an incubator.
Doody said it works because "the woman has kidneys, liver and lungs, which allows the body to act as a natural incubator."
Bliss said she was "overwhelmed with joy."
"Knowing that we are about to create [something] that's biologically mine, "exclaimed Bliss. My next thought, how is it going to look? How it will be? Like all parents, but I was very excited that this was possible. "

Bliss Coulter holds her son Stetson, the first person carried by both mothers during pregnancy. Bliss took Stetson for 5 days while her embryo was forming.
With Ashleigh and Bliss, Doody harvested Bliss eggs and stuffed them into the sperm of a donor at INVOcell. Then it was placed in Bliss to allow fertilization and embryo formation for five days. The embryos were then removed and frozen until Ashleigh was ready to receive them.
With traditional IVF without effort, the woman who donates the ovule is usually the one who will receive the embryo. But since the ovum and the embryo came from Bliss and were placed in Ashleigh, this makes this case unique.
When asked about wearing the INVOcell, Bliss said that when she saw the device she was worried, but "I did not feel everything, it never hurt."
After Ashleigh finished her hormonal treatments, the Bliss embryo was placed in her. Ten days later, on their first attempt, the couple was pregnant with their first child.
"Happiness always jokes, she has golden eggs. He left the anesthesia and said, "Did you get all the golden eggs?" Ashleigh joked.

Stetson Coulter is the first person carried by both mothers during pregnancy.
Approximately nine months later, in June of 2018, Stetson was born healthy and uncomplicated, weighed 8 pounds and 4 ounces.
"At the time I was born, I just thought, 'I felt like the most blessed person in the whole world' because it was just perfect in every way," Bliss recalled.
Doody shared that it is a doctor's duty to find more ways to provide IVF care to patients and that IVF without reciprocal effort is a great opportunity for some same-sex couples.
"It feels more natural for parents and gives them a unique bond with their baby," she said.
Ashleigh definitely felt a closeness because Stetson "grew inside my body". He also gave him the opportunity to share the trip with his wife.
"But when I look at it, I can see my wife," he said. "Priceless".
Doody explained that reciprocal IVF without effort is more expensive than IVF without traditional effort because it involves two people, but it is still cheaper than traditional IVF.
Doody told ABC News that Efflessless IVF was developed to provide IVF to people who may not have access to the procedure due to cost and geographic accessibility. It can also be half the price of traditional reciprocal IVF because it avoids the need for an incubator.
The Coulters have even received an overwhelming amount of support and questions from other possible same-sex couples and are happy to have been able to help them provide this opportunity.
From Coulters, a second same-sex couple in North Texas went through the IVF process with no reciprocal effort at the CARE fertility clinic and gave birth to a healthy baby in September.
Ashleigh and Bliss are busy being new parents and love every minute, but there has been talk of giving a brother to Stetson.
Bliss is happy with just one, but "I'm going to convince her that it will be a second," says Ashleigh.
Regardless of what they decide, the Coulters have two frozen embryos and would not hesitate to use the Effortless reciprocal IVF again to give Stetson a brother or sister.
