As planned, three astronauts from the international space station returned to Earth on October 4. After the usual farewell ceremony, Drew Feustel, Ricky Arnold and Oleg Artemyev boarded their Soyuz MS-08 spacecraft, leaving the orbital complex at 07:57 UTC, when they uncoupled from the Poisk module.
Three hours later, the engine of the vehicle's service module was activated, and they slowed down to start reentering the Earth's atmosphere. At 11:44 UTC, they landed without incident in the steppes of Kazakhstan.
The three men were immediately assisted by the rescue forces, already deployed in the area, who removed them from the capsule and attended after their prolonged space voyage of 197 days.
Artemyev, Feustel and Arnold left the control of the station in the hands of Alex Gerst, thus initiating the 57th expedition in orbit. During their stay in the complex, the three astronauts have carried out hundreds of experiments, made three extravehicular departures and received five delivery vehicles.
In the station they continue working the aforementioned Alexander Gerst, and his companions Serena Auñon-Chancellor and Sergey Prokopyev. On October 11, two more cosmonauts will take off, Nick Hague and Alexey Ovchinin, who will join the 57th expedition.
