Olynyk's recoil of Wade's lack of Wade lifts the Heat past Wiz 113-112
Kelly Olynyk's return from Dwyane Wade's lost jumper produced the victory basket with 0.2 seconds left Thursday night, leading the Miami Heat to a 113-112 comeback win over the Washington Wizards, who They did not have a new Dwight Howard center for their first game of the season.
Olynyk was booed every time he touched the ball, due to a series of playoff passes with the Wizards when he was with the Boston Celtics. But he certainly enjoyed the way this game ended, after Miami lost up to nine points.
Josh Richardson led Miami with 28 points, Rodney McGruder added 20 and the Heat hit three in a row at the end of the fourth quarter.
With Howard sidelined by a sore back, the Wizards were led by old substitute John Wall, who delivered 26 points and nine assists. He and his fellow All-Star guard Bradley Beal, who scored 20 points, accounted for Washington's last eight points.
But with a 112-111 lead, Wall missed a 26-foot jumper, which gave Miami a shot. Wade's shot with about 3 seconds left was out of place, but Olynyk took the rebound and his tray won.
The Heat played on the second night of a back-to-back (lost in Orlando on Wednesday) and Wade appeared in both games, scoring nine each night. He fired a combined 7 for 24.
Wizards coach Scott Brooks emphasized praying his players shoot more 3-pointers this season.
