Sweet Christmas, "Luke Cage" is canceled! 
Netflix announced on Friday night that the superhero show starring Mike Colter would not return for a third season just four months after the premier of his long-awaited departure for the second year in the broadcast service. 
Netflix and Marvel announced the cancellation in a joint statement published on Friday, according to multiple reports.
"Unfortunately, Marvel's Luke Cage will not return for a third season," the statement said. "Everyone at Marvel Television and Netflix are grateful to the dedicated showrunner, the writers, the cast and crew who gave life to the Harlem Hero over the past two seasons, and to all the fans who have supported the series."
This is the second Marvel program in a week to get the Netflix ax, since last Friday his Hero for Hire partner "Iron Fist" was canceled. 
"Luke Cage" and "Iron Fist" were part of a five-show deal that Netflix made with Marvel to tell the story of street-level heroes in the Marvel Universe, which also included "Jessica Jones", "Daredevil" and the Crossover series. "Defenders". Later, a shot was added out of the original five-show deal focused on anti-hero Frank Castle as "The Punisher." "Jessica Jones" was renewed for a third season in April and "Daredevil" premade its third season on Friday. 
The twin cancellations occur when Marvel's parent company, Disney, prepares to launch its own broadcast service next year. The popular Marvel superhero movies will eventually migrate exclusively to the Disney service.
