Multiple UFOs on the monon railway

A sighting of strange aerial activity by a railway train crew in October 1958 is definitely one of the most intriguing UFO accounts in history. Not only because of the fact that the train from which they saw the incident was speeding along the tracks at that moment, stopping no less than fifty-six cars behind them. Just to put that in perspective, that's a "more than half a mile of cars." The incident would last more than an hour and would take place along many miles of the Indiana railroad.
The meeting was documented by the five crew members on board and then transmitted to the UFO researcher, Frank Edwards. It is another of the interesting sightings to come from the American Midwest, and although it is unlikely that it ever offers more information or revelations, it is another account that is worth examining, documenting and discussing, to avoid losing those accounts in the vacuum of history. And with that, evidence that can be interrogated with more contemporary stories. As with those who are to come.
Freight train n ° 91 of strange lights
Around 3:20 a.m. 3rd October 1958, freight train no. 91 was advancing at high speed down the track near Monon, Indiana, on its way to Indianapolis. Could be A different trip to any other.. Engineer Harry Eckman, brake master, Morris Ott and fireman Cecil Bridge were in the cabin of the diesel locomotive. Two other railway crew members, the conductor, Ed Robinson, and the banderero, Paul Sosbey, were further back in the caboose.
The train had just passed through Wasco, Indiana, a place that the bridge would describe as "just a kind of crossroads" without a real city. Several moments later, four strange and very remarkable lights were visible in the sky. Men knew they were not stars as they moved. And in addition, they moved in a very specific V formation. Bridge would describe this formation as having no forward light, but "two" wings "with two lights on each wing". Bridge believes he was the first of the men to see the lights. He watched them for fifteen seconds or so and then alerted the others in the cabin.
When the other two men focused their eyes on the screen in front of them, the lights veered westward and led them across the train path. Bridge would estimate that the lights were about a mile ahead of them. They also noticed how slow they were moving, about fifty miles per hour. As Bridge would describe them, "four large, white and soft lights".
The three men discussed whether the other two men in the caboose might be aware of this strange air show. They would probably decide not. The men returned their attention to the lights. They stopped their movement momentarily before moving away towards the east, and finally they disappeared. Then, a few moments later, they returned.
A much closer return
This time, Bridge opened the radio communication to the caboose to inform the other two members of the crew. Robinson would pick it up. The conversation would continue throughout the incident as the train accelerated from Wasco and toward Kirklin, Indiana. The dispatcher in Lafayette was also aware of the conversation, although he did not interrupt the events. As Bridge says, "the kids in the caboose could see things better." Especially when they came down on the whole train. "
Robinson would remember that he was in the dome "looking forward over the train" when the Bridge call came over the radio from the cockpit. Robinson says he was already aware of the "four globes of light", although he was not sure what they were, and he was not aware that they were something strange or unfavorable. However, when the lights returned, they would be much closer to the huge pieces of metal moving and connected precariously as they ran down the tracks. The lights would go from the south to the train that came from the north.
They would float "only a couple of hundred feet" on the moving train. Robinson would also comment on his (relatively) slow speed of "maybe thirty or forty miles per hour." He also commented that even though the freight train was "quite noisy" he did not remember hearing any noise on the airplane's engine. It was as if the lights were completely silent. The lights were definitely individual crafts as Robinson would remember that they "flew over us one after the other". His description was almost identical to Bridge's. According to Robinson, they were "large, round white things" like "fluorescent lights" and "somewhat blurry at the edges".
Higher speeds, brightness and colors
As they moved through the train, Robinson and Sosbey, also observing the strange lights, decided to go outside on the rear platform of the vehicle to get a better view. When they reached the narrow ledge, the lights were "far behind". Suddenly, "they moved away from the tracks". They would head east and dramatically increase their speed. As they did, their brightness increased, as if the two were linked. Robinson would remember that "they got really bright and white ... and (they were) moving very fast."
Back in the cabin, in the front of the train, Bridge and the other two men could also see the objects a sudden increase in speed and brightness. Bridge would remember that they "went on in sequence" and in order of their position in their air procession. Then, they changed their course one more time. And again, they would head towards the moving train. When they passed over them, the objects once again increased in brightness and did so in sequence. They would continue to make passes over them. However, while they did, the lights now changed color when their brightness increased. Instead of a brilliant bright white light, instead, they would become a "type of yellow, then orange when they went very slowly". A dirty orange king. "
In the back of the train, Robinson and Sosbey could no longer see the lights. Robinson, however, would remain in communication with Bridge. Suddenly, the two men saw the lights again, which led Robinson to conclude that "they must have surrounded us." The lights now went straight to the train from behind, "very low" and "much faster." The lower altitude allowed the two men to see the objects behind the lights.
An attempt to communicate
Robinson would remember that, from their position in the back of the train, they could see that the lights were "round things". Of circular form in the inferior part ". I would estimate that each object was about forty feet wide and maybe ten feet thick.
Both groups of men would use their flashlights in an attempt to signal or communicate with the mysterious objects. It is not known if the objects that came much closer to the train were the result of men using their flashlights or not. Bridge would say: "... they did not return any light to us".
Robinson, however, in the back of the train, had access to a sealed beam flashlight "that throws a pretty good beam in a long way". When the objects reached the moving train, low and behind, Robinson armed himself with the heavy-duty torch and ignited it, his beam much like a white laser beam that extended. In addition, much had that effect. After the glare of the lantern that hit the ships "they jumped to the side of the beam". Wondering if the movement was casual or not, Robinson directed the light towards them again. Once again, they turned away from the road. I would remember later "they acted as if they did not care about that light at all".
The lights would then remain at a considerable distance after that. By the time they changed into Frankfort, they simply floated "up on the slopes". When the train left the station, the lights continued for several more kilometers until finally "it moved away towards the northeast". In all, from the first time the crew noticed them until they disappeared (about forty miles outside of Indianapolis) more than seventy minutes passed.
Coincidence? Or an intentional interception?
The story of this strange 1958 train trip was compiled by the UFO researcher and researcher, Frank Edwards. It would come from each of the five men present, with Robinson and Bridge as the main sources of information.
Just what the four lights might have been is still open to debate. We know that they were individual boats due to the change of formation, but mainly due to how they approached the train one by one. Robinson would also remember having seen a rounded shape from which light was simply a part. Essentially, he is describing a frisbee.
Perhaps the most interesting, however, are the memories of how the lights would change color the faster or slower they were. This is a detail that often appears in UFO sightings. So much so, that some researchers suggest a definite link between such details. It is also worth noting that, at the time of the sighting in the late 1950s, this (then) trivial detail really would not have been as weighty as it is now. Perhaps this, then, should allow us to treat the incident as authentic and credible.
If we accept then, for the sake of argument, that the incident happened in the way the five men claimed, what exactly was behind the train that night? Was it an alien ship? Or could it have been a secret military vehicle? And because? Was it just a coincidence that the train found the same route as the mysterious flying lights? Or was the interception planned? If so, why? After all, there was no interaction between the two, in addition to the bright rays of the heavy-duty flashlight. Could something have been recovered without the crew knowing? Something they did not know they were wearing?
