Mother of Florida requests Halloween cards for 4-year-old chemotherapy

(Tiffany McPherson)Halloween is not here yet, but a child from Florida is already having a memorable vacation.
Tiffany McPherson turned to social media this season to do something good for her son Carter, 4, who is currently receiving chemotherapy as part of her treatment for leukemia.
"This year, we had some family problems," Winter Gardens mom told Fox News. "It just makes me happy to see him happy."
In late September, McPherson said he used an application called Nextdoor, which helps people discover what's happening in their communities, as well as two local Facebook pages to ask them to send cards to their son for Halloween, his holiday. Favourite.
"He loves the mail," he said, adding that Carter recognizes his own name and knows when the mail is sent to him.
The mother said her son, who was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) before B cells in February 2017, has been in remission since March 2017.
"That does not really mean that it's gone, it just means that it's contained," he clarified.
the American Cancer Society calls ALL "the most common type of childhood leukemia."
"In about 80% to 85% of children with ALL, leukemia begins in B cells" the ACS says, explaining that Pre-B ALL is one of the subtypes of B-cell ALL.

Carter is in the maintenance phase of his recommended 3-year treatment plan and currently goes to the hospital to receive chemotherapy once a month, McPherson added, but that does not mean the process is easy.
"I have to sit there and bear my crying son for having to have access to his port and he is terrified by this," he said.
The letters offer a little joy to the family.
"For a full month, we are excited and happy," he said, explaining that Carter has already received around 100 cards, as well as other gifts, such as candy baskets, candy and gift cards.
The gift cards, he said, are a big help "when he wants to go get an ice cream and I can not pay for it".
A special moment, recalled McPherson, was when a 19-year-old man who was studying to become an emergency doctor was so moved by the story of Carter that he came to the house to deliver a personal gift.
Tiffany McPherson says her son Carter has already received about 100 cards.
(Tiffany McPherson)The aspiring doctor gave Carter gifts that included superhero pajamas, a Spider-Man bucket and a Spider-Man costume, which will be Carter's Halloween team this year.
"Who does that at 19?" McPherson asked, touched by the gesture.
McPherson had only good things to say about all the mail his son has received.
"It simply illuminates your world, illuminates mine," he said.
