the Wonder universe just got a smaller portion in Netflix With the cancellation of "Marvel's Luke Cage" after two seasons.
The news on Friday surprised the fans and came shortly after Netflix eliminated another live-action Marvel series, "Iron Fist." Both are part of the world of The Defenders and ordered by Netflix between five in 2013.
"Unfortunately, Marvel's Luke Cage will not return for a third season," said a statement released by Netflix. "Everyone at Marvel Television and Netflix are grateful to the dedicated showrunner, the writers, the cast and crew who gave life to the Harlem Hero over the past two seasons, and to all the fans who have supported the series."
Netflix did not give a reason for cancellation. An email request for an additional comment was not returned immediately on Saturday.
The Cage series caused a stir when it was released because it featured a rare black superhero in an independent vehicle. Mike Colter starred as the bulletproof hero in rental. The second season premiered in June. The creator and presenter of Cage Cheo Hodari Coker answered the Twitter but he also offered no idea why the series was dumped.
"Many memories, many individual thanks for doing," he said. "I just want to thank Marvel, Netflix, the best writers' room, the cast, the team, the Midnight Hour, all those who adorned the stage in Harlem Paradise and the fan base more incredible of the world, always ahead ... "
Disney, the parent company of Marvel, is working on its own transmission service.
