Leishman wins the classic CIMB for 5 hits.
KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) - Marc Leishman fired a seven-under 65 in the final round to win the CIMB classic Sunday by five strokes and equal to the course record of the tournament.
The Australian was in good shape as he walked towards his fourth PGA Tour title and equaled the record in the Justin Thomas tournament of 26 under 262 in 2015 at the PGA Kuala Lumpur West field.
Leishman started strongly with four birdies in the first five holes, before doubling another long birdie putt in the ninth for 31.
Two little birds plus 10 and 16 followed him, walled his solitary bogey on the 13th, before he made a birdie on the final hole and celebrated it with a fist pump.
The first-round leader Bronson Burgoon shot a 68 to finish tied for second place, along with Emiliano Grillo and Chesson Hadley.
Thomas finished tied for fifth after finishing the last day with an eighth under 64, along with Gary Woodland (71) and Louis Oosthuizen (69).
Shubhankar Sharma, part of the trio of joint leaders who made it to this final round, wavered in the final round to finish tied for tenth after a par-72.
