LEADING: Springer's HR run, price not right against Yankees
.
A look at what is happening around the majors today:
SPRING
Astros leader George Springer has the opportunity to tie the postseason record in most consecutive games with a home run. Springer was connected for the fifth consecutive game Friday when Houston beat Cleveland 7-2 to open its AL Division Series.
Springer was home run in the last four games of the World Series last year, winning the MVP award and leading Houston to its first championship. Next he will face Carlos Carrasco of the Indians in Game 2 at Minute Maid Park.
Daniel Murphy established the Major League record for home runs in six consecutive postseason games for the Mets in 2015. Springer's five consecutive games are tied for second with Carlos Beltran, who did with the Astros in 2004.
PRICE CHECK
David Price (16-7, 3.58 ERA) pitches against Masahiro Tanaka (12-6, 3.75) and the rival Yankees when Boston tries to take a 2-0 lead in their AL Division Series at Fenway Park. Price has a 4.90 ERA in 42 career starts (41 starts) against the Yankees and has fought a lot against them since signing a $ 217 million contract for seven years with the Red Sox before the 2016 season. He had a 0 mark. -3 with an ERA of 10.34 in four starts against NY this year, but 9-2 with a 2.98 ERA in Fenway overall.
The wild card Yankees could be without center fielder Aaron Hicks, who left the first game of the series with pressure on his right thigh and was replaced by Brett Gardner. Hicks pinched the same hamstring at the end of September and missed three games before returning to the lineup.
"He will be examined more thoroughly tomorrow, and there will be an MRI and all," said manager Aaron Boone. "I felt it could have been cramps, so we'll have to see."
ROCKY RETURN
Nolan Arenado and the Colorado Rockies have a day to rest and regroup after falling into a 0-2 deficit in Milwaukee. Game 3 of its National League Division Series is Sunday at Coors Field, where the Brewers try to win their 11th consecutive place and finish with a sweep.
Trevor Story, Charlie Blackmon and the rest of the shocking Rockies managed a total of just two runs and 10 hits in the two losses at Miller Park.
COMING SOON EMPTY
Freddie Freeman and his teammates from Baby Braves also hope that a return home will wake up their clubs. Atlanta has been outscored 9-0 by the Dodgers by losing the first two games of its National League Division Series. "You can not blame anyone," manager Brian Snitker said. "I mean, it's just that all our alignment is having difficulties." Los Angeles can sweep the best game of five in Game 3 on Sunday night in Atlanta.
