Launched the satellite SAOCOM-1A





An Argentine satellite of observation of the Earth, called SAOCOM-1A (Argentine Satellite of Observation With Microwaves), was placed in a heliosynchronic orbit of 620 km on October 8.



An American Falcon-9 v1.2 rocket was used for this, which took off from the Vandenberg base at 02:21 UTC. The vehicle recovered later to its first stage, which landed safely on the ground.



The SAOCOM-1A has been designed and built by the company INVAP for CONAE (National Commission for Space Activities), using the platform already used in the SAC-C mission. It is equipped with an L-band SAR radar that can make observations in various weather conditions and also during the night period. You will get images with a resolution of between 10 and 50 meters,



The satellite weighed about 3 tons at takeoff. The launch of a second mill is planned next year, and its use in a coordinated way with the Italians COSMO-SkyMed.
