"Altered Carbon" had sleeves, "Star Trek" had the Katra vulcano "Battlestar Galactica" had the Cylon Resurrection Hub and even "Stargate SG-1" had Ma'chello's body-swapping device in the episode "Holiday" (Season 2, Episode 18). Transplanting human consciousness has long been a pillar of contemporary science fiction, but have you ever wondered how everything could have started?
That is the basic premise of the plot of the new and little-known science fiction project by Keanu Reeves, "Replicas".
Word of this film was shared for the first time in New York Comic Con last year, when Reeves held a small panel session and a first trailer was shown. However, since then, it has not been heard much, until now ... as a new trailer falls.
Reeves plays Reeves as a daring synthetic biologist trying to resurrect his family after they died in a car accident using some kind of replication technology. It will stop at nothing to bring them back, even if that means confronting a government-controlled laboratory, a police work group and the physical laws of science.
The trailer looks amazing, and Reeves has an excellent record of science fiction movies (the jury is still deliberating on "Johnny Mnemonic").
Along with Reeves in the film are Alice Eve, Thomas Middleditch, John Ortiz and Emily Alyn Lind.
The story and script were developed by Reeves and Stephen Hamel's Company Films production company and written by Chad St. John, adapted from a Hamel story.
Before the trailer presentation at NYCC last year, the film was sold to Entertainment Studios for $ 4 million after a private screening at the Toronto International Film Festival.
The main photography of the film began on August 10, 2016 in Puerto Rico and the release date was originally set for August 24, 2018.
While Entertainment Studios has not talked about new release dates, theIMDb the page says that the film is scheduled to fall in Lithuania on October 26, 2018; Portugal on November 1 and the Netherlands on December 6, 2018; so make that what you want.
