Six months after being pansexual, Janelle Monae said she has no regrets, and is happy with the positive response she received.



"It has been beautiful," said the star. Magazine of people.



"I think it has been a very warm and loving moment for all of us who are walking in our truths," Monae told the magazine. "And I've always hoped, by sharing my stories, that people feel more comfortable walking in their truths, and they feel that it's not a heavy burden, you know, that they have support."



The 32-year-old artist is enjoying success in music and film, including obtaining the Screen Actors Syndicate Award for her role in "Hidden Figures."



For her next film, Monae is expressing Peg's character in the live action film "Lady and the Tramp." The cast also has a close friend, Tessa Thompson, who appeared in his music videos for "Dirty Computer" and "Make Me Feel."

"Tessa is an exceptional actress in the first place," said Monae. "Having her on the Dirty Computer project as my friend and someone I respect as a black woman in this industry was a dream."



Monae also appears in the film "Welcome to Marwen," which begins in December, and is now filming a biopic of Harriet Tubman.



In April, Monae told Rolling Stone that after initially identifying as bisexual, "he read about pansexuality and said, 'Oh, these are things that I also identify with.' I'm open to learning more about who I am."
