Indiana police officers arrest five people in case of brutal child abuse

(Kosciusko County Jail)A fifth person was arrested on Sunday in a chilling case of child abuse in Indiana that involved a child who was found severely injured and malnourished earlier this year.
Annette Priestly, Fayette Robinette, Rune Springer, Jammy Stacy and Travis Tillotson were arrested after a month-long investigation into the alleged abuse, FOX59 reported.
An investigation was launched on March 2 when the Nappanee police responded to a report from a child who needed help. The responding officers discovered a malnourished and underweight child with signs of abuse in his body, depending on the season. It was not immediately clear how old the child was.
The child would have died within 48 hours without treatment and the child's injuries went from months to a few days, reported FOX59.
The child was missing pieces 1 to 2 inches from his scalp, had a partition cut, it seemed that his nails had been nailed, his cheeks and nose were scraped, his arms were broken and his teeth were broken and a serious weight problem , the Union times Reported in May, citing court documents.
Officers responded to Nappanee's home in March and spoke with Springer, the boy's mother, and Tillotson, the boy's stepfather, but told authorities that the boy had been living with Stacy for the past six months, according to FOX59 . Apparently, Stacy convinced Springer and Tillotson not to contact the authorities immediately for fear of being arrested. It was not clear how or if Stacy was related to the child.
Stacy had been the girl's only caregiver since October 2017 and returned her with the wound on March 1, the Times Union reported. Stacy told the police that she would let the boy stay with Robinette, Stacy's aunt, and Priestly, Stacy's mother.
The police also received Stacy's consent to search his phone and discovered the photos of the injured child, according to the Times Union. Reportedly, other photos also found matching dates where Priestly and Robinette would have been observing the child.
Priestly, Springer, Robinette and Stacy were charged with negligence for a level 3 felony of a dependent that resulted in serious bodily injury, while Tillotson was accused of a dependent's level 6 negligence.
