Hurricane Willa strengthens before a category 5 storm, objectives for Mexico
MEXICO CITY: Hurricane Willa strengthened on Monday in a Category 5 storm with sustained winds of up to 160 miles per hour to the west coast of Mexico, where it is expected to land as a major hurricane on Tuesday.

The authorities of the states of Nayarit, Sinaloa and Jalisco closed schools in some municipalities and began to install shelters.
The storm was located approximately 135 miles southwest of Cabo Corrientes, south of Puerto Vallarta, around 11 a.m. ET, said the US National Hurricane Center UU
Willa could see some weakening on Tuesday, but is still expected to hit land on Tuesday afternoon or evening as a dangerous hurricane, causing life-threatening storms, wind and rain, the NHC said. The storm is expected to throw 6 to 12 inches of rain in parts of Nayarit, Jalisco and Sinaloa,
As Willa strengthened, tropical storm Vicente continued to move offshore to the south and is expected to weaken to a tropical depression before reaching shore late Tuesday.
The national meteorological service of Mexico warned of heavy rains and possible floods, landslides and damage to roads in the Pacific coastal states.
