the storm At midday on Tuesday there were already 110 mph winds. When Michael reaches 111 mph, it will become a Category 3 hurricane.

Here is what to expect and when.



Tuesday:


- Michael was 360 miles south of Panama City, Florida, starting at 11 am on Tuesday.


- The governor of Georgia, Nathan Deal, declared a state of emergency on Tuesday for 92 counties of his state, and Scott declared the state of emergency in 35 counties of Florida.


- In Alabama, where residents can see massive blackouts, strong winds and heavy rains, Governor Kay Ivey declared a statewide emergency.



Wednesday:


- The landing is forecast for around 1 p.m. Wednesday near Panama City, with winds that possibly reach 125 mph. (A category 4 hurricane is 130 mph).

- Storm surge could reach a deadly 12 feet, Florida Governor Rick. Scott warned. "You can not hide from the storm surge," he told a news conference on Tuesday. "This storm can kill you."




- Rain could reach 12 inches in the Florida Panhandle and up to 6 inches in the Carolinas.


- The warnings are valid for more than 300 miles of coastline, said the National Meteorological Service.

Thursday and after


- Michael is forecast to remain a tropical storm as he moves through Georgia and the Carolinas on Thursday.


- The storm is expected to move further inland at the end of the week, which could bring rain and strong winds to parts of South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia.
