As I had said before, "There is nothing more dangerous in the world than an imbecile with initiative, with a gun or with a loudspeaker." And now we are living in the media today, where there are presenters or drivers, who spend saying a string of idiocies without meaning or content, so to "entertain and have fun." But they do it with garbage.
It is really worrying the level of junk content that is transmitted by the mass media in Mexico and around the world. Every day we can see more "seers", "astrologers", "tarotists" and "sorcerers" who pay for their space and with that they are transmitted to the public. But where is the quality control of content? Is not there anyone who audits the quality of the contents in the media?
Do not tear your clothes hypocritically. Things like publishing "forecasts" or "predictions" of earthquakes or other natural disasters, saying false remedies for cancer is not freedom of expression. It is mystifying misinformation, and even depending on the degree it could be categorized as cybercrime, media and viral disinformation. It is a hoax created with bad intentions, and that deserves punishment.
The fact that a television producer or a radio station wants to justify with the stupid idea of "is what people like" is an insult to the intellect and to the career of the media. The dissemination and promotion of trash in the media only brings more trash to society. But if we reflect, the media are just a reflection of the society where we live, then that society is a dump, and the right thing is not to promote and boast, the right thing is to clean it.
Do you want a country to progress? Give more space in the media to science and culture, and you will see how that country grows, first intellectually, and then all the progress and progress will be added. Democracy does not work when the vast majority is uneducated and ignorant. Quite the opposite.
As the great Norwegian writer Henrik Ibsen would say: "No, most are never right. That is the biggest social lie ever said. Every free citizen must protest against it. Who do you suppose are the majority when it comes to voting? The stupid or the smart? Most have the strength, but not the reason. "
And now it turns out that if a journalist criticizes them, they are offended and even victimized to seek the commiseration of others. Remember that only the miserable seek to be sympathetic. Criticism is to correct and build, in a few words it is to polish. All criticism is constructive, and obviously to criticize first you must have built something. If the work is destroyed with criticism, it is that the work itself was terrible and unsustainable.
Journalists really are to criticize and point to both the government and society. They are the ones who point out the straight path to follow. Whoever criticizes journalists who criticize only denote their inner rot. "The object of life is not to be on the side of the majority, but to escape being part of the foolish," as the wise Roman emperor Marcus Aurelius would say.
And finally, do not fall into deception, earthquakes can not yet be predicted, if real science has not succeeded, much less the false seers or pseudo-researchers. Do not fall for those vile deceptions. On the contrary, denounce them before the authorities. Abusing superstitions and ignorance of people to profit, is a crime, and deserves punishment.
If the media and the internet is contaminated with junk content, turn off the television, turn off the radio and the computer, and do yourself a favor, grab a good book and start reading it. Humanity will thank you, and your mind too.
