Ford Motor Co. withdraws 1.5 million Focus vehicles





Ford Motor Co. said on Thursday it was recalling about 1.5 million Focus vehicles in North America due to a malfunctioning purge valve.

The recall affects the bulbs manufactured from 2012 to 2018 that are equipped with a 2.0-liter GDI or GTDI engine.



According to the Detroit automaker, the container purge valve can get stuck in an open position, causing the vehicle's plastic fuel tank to deform. A driver may see a malfunction indicator light on or a fuel gauge with fluctuating or inaccurate fuel levels.

The malfunction could stop the car from restarting or cause it to stop while it is in motion, Ford said.



The company said it was not aware of any accident, injury or fire as a result of the defect. Ford recommends that the owners of the Focus maintain at least half a tank of fuel until the recall is completed. Dealers will inspect and replace the purge valves of the container at no charge, Ford said.

On Wednesday, Ford reported revenues in the third quarter of $ 34.66 billion, 3 percent more than the previous year. The total income was $ 37.6 billion.
