(AP)There are two big ones not to come out of Kavanaugh's audience, one that has been around for a while, the other that just joined.
What are they?
The first is that you should not talk about challenging Justice Kavanaugh, now or never.
Politically, it is a loser, and in a substantial way, undermines the credibility of the Supreme Court and makes Democrats look more losers than they already do.
Make no mistake: the hearings were contentious, people of goodwill were on both sides, and credible arguments were possible on both sides of the question.
However, in the United States, once the contentious and tough debates end, we must unite again, as a nation and in terms of our political process.
Ultimately, as a society, we can not continue to litigate different problems over and over again in the hope of obtaining different results. That is substantively incorrect; It is bad politically; is ethically wrong; and it is bad morally.
Democrats are likely to win the House of Representatives and (although less and less likely) the Senate, but to maximize their appeal, they must focus on what matters to voters.
So, for Democrats, such as Rep. Jerrold Nadler of New York, saying that they are going to investigate Kavanaugh for perjury and related matters if the Democrats take the House and / or the Senate are not only premature, but they are also a serious mistake . One that will only be to the detriment of the Democrats.
In addition, such a measure would encourage President Trump to continue saying what he has been saying, which is that the Democrats are a radical left party that only defends the impeachment of both the recently appointed judge Kavanaugh and the president himself. .
Which brings me to the second "no": there is no longer talk of accusing Trump.
There can not be a serious conversation about the impeachment before Robert Mueller's report. And since that is unlikely to happen during the election, the best advice I can give my fellow Democrats is to put the accusation, in all its forms, be it presidential or judicial, aside.
What Democrats need to re-address are issues, such as health care, immigration and education, about which they have substantial arguments against the Trump administration and a Congress that only passed serious and substantive legislation : taxes. And even that piece is still problematic, if not completely unpopular.

Ultimately, Democrats should not talk about undermining democracy and democratic values in such a way that a large percentage of the electorate finds useless if not harmful.
