Hundreds of protesters took to the streets of Washington, DC, as the Senate is expected to vote for Kavanaugh's nomination between 3 and 5 p.m. Saturday.

Marches of protesters marched towards Capitol Hill and in front of the Supreme Court, which have been the scene of thousands of protesters in recent weeks.

On Saturday afternoon, more than 100 protesters were arrested by the Capitol Police on the steps of the Supreme Court, although no official number has been disclosed.

Some of the chants that were heard in the crowd included the following: "Arrest sexual predators, not the protesters" and "Hey, hey, ho ho, Kavanaugh has to go"

Kavanaugh's contentious confirmation process has attracted protesters from across the country.

Most of the protesters appeared to be protesting against their nomination and in support of survivors of sexual assault.

Kavanaugh, who has been accused of three inappropriate sexual behaviors, has denied all allegations.

There have also been smaller pockets of protesters who are defending Kavanaugh and backing his nomination.

President Donald Trump even spoke about Kavanaugh supporters on Saturday, and he wrote on Twitter that they are "something beautiful to see, and professional protesters who are given expensive posters are not paid."

His praise of pro-Kavanaugh protesters came a day after he tweeted unsubstantiated claims about the protesters against Kavanaugh, writing that they were "very rude" and that "paid professionals only seek to make senators look bad".

He also suggested, without any evidence, that they were paid by Democratic donor George Soros.

Protests are also being organized in cities across the country, including Atlanta and New York City.

Protesters in Washington have made themselves known throughout the week, sometimes directly confronting senators outside their offices.

That happened with Sen. Joe Manchin, Democrat W.V., Moments after his office issued a statement on Friday announcing that he, long seen as a possible decisive vote, would vote in Kavanaugh's favor.
