Archaeologists in China have discovered the tomb of a 900-year-old preserved skeleton, nicknamed the "Great Lady." The remains of the body were discovered in a coffin filled with water inside a tomb in the village of Tieguai in China.
The skeleton was buried with several other artifacts, such as a model house with miniature furniture inside and a silver pendant decorated with dragons. A sign found in the coffin said that the tomb belonged to the "Great Lady" who lived in the "Commandery of Ankang". While his real name was difficult to read on the poster, archaeologists believe it could be née Jian, LiveScience reports.

An indication of the age of the Great Lady came from the 200 bronze coins located inside her casket produced between approximately 713 and 1100 AD. Archaeologists said he probably died around 1100 AD. And art flourished in the region.
The Great Lady had an ornate style, as she was found with silver and gold forks on her head, silver bracelets on her arms and a chain of 83 bronze coins in her abdomen. Under his right hand were the remains of two zongzi or what was left of two rice balls.
She was also buried with other serious goods and many small replicas of real-life objects. Within his grave, there were 10 female figures wearing masks and playing musical instruments. The portraits were in his coffin that were probably of the Great Lady wearing different clothes and accessories.

Both tombs were discovered between June and September 2014 by an archaeological team from the Cultural Relics Administration of Nanling County and the Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archeology of Anhui.
