Amazon dismisses employees for sharing customers' email addresses





Amazon fired an employee for delivering customers' email addresses to a third party vendor on the site, the company confirmed on Monday.

On Friday, the e-commerce giant said it had notified affected customers, adding that the vendor had been blocked by Amazon.



"The person responsible for this incident was fired from his position, and we are supporting the authorities in their prosecution," an Amazon spokesperson wrote in an email to ABC News.

The company did not provide any details about the fired employee or third-party vendor.



Last month, The Wall Street Journal reported that Amazon was investigating customer data leaks by employees in exchange for bribes from third-party vendors. Amazon would not comment if the behavior of this employee was part of that investigation.



Problems with third-party vendors and the culture of fake reviews have been a growing problem for Amazon, as it grows exponentially. The artisanal industry of false reviews in turn has generated an industry. who oversees the false reviews.
