Seven people were shot and wounded early Monday during a Hallowe'en Party at a nightclub in Southern California, police said.

The shooting was reported in a nightclub called Seville in the city of Riverside that had promoted a weekend of themed Halloween events, including a rap show on Sunday night announced as "The First Purge" or "The Purge Election Year. "

Two victims found by agents inside the nightclub were taken to a hospital to receive treatment. Five other victims then arrived at local hospitals with gunshot wounds, police said.

The police guard the sergeant commander. Ryan Wilson said none of the victims' injuries were life-threatening.

A witness who did not want to be identified told KTLA-TV that he was dancing when the shots rang.

He said he saw several people firing weapons and that there was a bottleneck of people trying to get out of the exit while hiding behind the bar and praying.

The initial investigation of the police shows that a fight broke out in the club and the involved began to exchange shots both inside and out, said Officer Ryan Railsback, a spokesman for the department.

Investigators are investigating whether the shooting was gang-related, Railsback said.

The investigation was being handled by the department's robbery-homicide and gang intelligence units.

Riverside is about 55 miles (88.5 kilometers) from the interior of Los Angeles.
