Astrobiologists discover more than 33 Palauan lakes on Mars

As the team reports, in addition to a lake previously discovered in the southern hemisphere of Mars, they have discovered 33 sites known as palaeo-lakes in which liquid water was collected when the weather on Mars was warmer and more humid.
The current study and the discovery of the other 33 previous lakes are based on a hydrogeographic analysis of the region in which the natural channels, depressions and characteristic sedimentary deposits still visible were identified and analyzed topographically.
Obviously, the first years of Mars were literally full of bodies of water, which increases the probability of Martian life at some time in the past. Researchers, therefore, see the discovery of these paleo-lakes as an important step in the search for life on the Red Planet. Because even today you can find traces of the previous life in the sites of these ancient lakes.
