Wisconsin Receiver Sues University by Disciplinary Investigation
The attacked Quintez Cephus of the University of Wisconsin is suing the school because he says he is conducting a disciplinary investigation while trying to defend himself against a criminal sexual assault case violates your rights.
Cephus was suspended from the Badgers in August after he was accused of sexually assaulting two drunken women in his apartment. Cephus says that sex was consensual.
Cephus filed a federal lawsuit on Tuesday alleging that a college disciplinary investigation against him that began in May is unfair because he can not participate in it without damaging his criminal defense, the Wisconsin State Journal reported.
The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages for emotional and psychological damage and past and future economic losses, claiming that Cephus is probably a high pick in the NFL draft.
University spokeswoman Meredith McGlone said school officials have not reviewed the lawsuit, but believe their investigation process complies with federal law.
Cephus' lawyer, Andrew Miltenberg, said in an email that Cephus "has been stripped of his rights in this public school."
Cephus, who is from Macon, Georgia, was scheduled to appear in court Thursday for his appearance on the sexual assault charges. He was ordered last month to be tried in the case.
