The latest: 3 scientists awarded the Nobel Prize in chemistry
The latest on the awarding of the Nobel Prizes (all local times):

Chemistry Nobel Prize winner George Smith, who arrived at his home in Columbia, Missouri, hastened to recognize the work of others in his award.
"Almost all Nobel Prize winners understand that what they receive the award for is based on many precedents, a lot of ideas and research that is exploding because it is in the right place at the right time," he told The Associated Press.
"Very few research advances are new, practically all are based on what happened before, it is coincidence, that was certainly the case of my work, mine was an idea in a line of research that developed very naturally in the lines of research that was before. "
Smith said he found out about the prize in a pre-dawn phone call from Stockholm. "It's a standard joke that someone with a Swedish accent calls and says you won! But there was so much static on the line, I knew it was not any of my friends," he said.
He said he "has no idea" what he will do with the prize in cash. "We're going to give it away, I think, but we'll think how we'll do it, it's not just money, it has a meaning that goes beyond money."
Smith, 77, was a professor for 40 years at the University of Missouri in the Division of Biological Sciences.

The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences says that the three researchers who received this year's Nobel Prize for Chemistry "harnessed the power of evolution" to develop enzymes and antibodies that have led to new pharmaceuticals and biofuels.
Frances Arnold, of the California Institute of Technology, received half of the award for carrying out the first targeted evolution of enzymes, which leads to a production of more environmentally friendly chemicals, including medicines, and in production of renewable fuels.
George Smith of the University of Missouri and Gregory Winter of the MRC Molecular Biology Laboratory in Cambridge, England, share the other half of the award. Smith developed a new way of evolving proteins and Winter used the method to develop antibodies to produce new drugs.
The first drug based on this work is used against rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis and inflammatory bowel disease, the academy said.

The Nobel Prize for chemistry has been awarded to two researchers in the United States and one in Great Britain.
Half the prize of 9 million crowns ($ 1.01 million) was appointed by Frances Arnold de Caltech in Pasadena for the work that has led to the development of new biofuels and pharmaceutical products.
The other half of the award will be shared by George Smith of the University of Missouri and Gregory Winter of the MRC Laboratory in Cambridge. They were honored for the "phage display of peptides and antibodies."

On Wednesday, the Royal Academy of Sciences of Sweden announced the Nobel Prize in Chemistry, which honors researchers for the advances in the study of how molecules combine and interact.
The chemistry prize of 9 million crowns ($ 1.01 million) is the last of this year's scientific Nobel prizes.
Last year's award went to researchers from the United States, Switzerland and Great Britain who developed a microscope technique that allows scientists to see details of the molecules that drive life.
The winner of the Nobel Peace Prize will be announced on Friday. No literature prize will be awarded this year. The Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences, in honor of the man who awarded the five Nobel prizes, will be announced on Monday.
The medicine award was presented Monday to American and Japanese researchers. Scientists from the United States, Canada and France shared the physics prize on Tuesday.
