Weeks before Halloween, the holiday shopping season may seem far away.
But BestBlackFriday.com he launched his 2018 Thanksgiving closings list On Monday, a list of retailers that will not open their physical stores on November 22.
Costco, Ikea, Sam's Club, Home Depot and Lowe's are among the big names in the third annual Thanksgiving closings list of the popular holiday website.
"At this time of year, we have the most confirmed closures we've had with 60 retailers," said Phillip Dengler, head of editorial and content marketing for BestBlackFriday.com, which began contacting stores in early September.
The stores on the list have traditionally kept their doors closed during the holidays, and Dengler expects the list to grow. Although the site has not confirmed any new closures this year, Dengler said there were some surprises last year.
In 2017, GameStop opened Thanksgiving for the first time in years, and Stein Mart and Shoe Carnival closed after opening in previous years.

"While we do not expect major retailers to change course, we do expect one or two mid-tier retailers to potentially close," Dengler said.
According to the National Federation of Retailers, 174 million people bought in the store and online during the five-day Thanksgiving weekend last year, which concluded with Cyber Monday.
ShopperTrak found that Thanksgiving pedestrian traffic decreased, while Black Friday traffic remained stable in 2017. The market research firm projects this black Friday. It will be the biggest shopping day of the year.
Black Friday earned its name because it was seen as the day of the year when retailers were profitable, or were "black". Almost a decade ago, sales began to come slowly to Thanksgiving and by 2012, most of the major retailers opened on the fourth Thursday of November.
Despite the public protest and the buyers threatening to boycott, the opening hours have been advanced. Last year, J.C. Penney began its sale at 2 p.m. Thanksgiving and Kohl's, Macy's and Best Buy started sales at 5 p.m.

"Many people are still against the idea of retailers opening their doors on Thanksgiving Day," said Dengler. "Since Thanksgiving has to do with family, most people believe that stores should be closed that day."
Although still a minority, the new website survey shows that more people can get used to the idea. Almost a quarter of the 1,069 respondents this year said they were in favor of holiday openings, close to an increase of 9 percentage points over last year.
At what time stores will offer Thanksgiving sales at the store this year are not yet public.
"Stores are always reluctant to tell us if they will be open on Thanksgiving and what their hours will be," Dengler said. "Since most of the major national retailers are open on Thanksgiving, we think it's because the competition is so much fiercer."
